The cost of being good is that you are by definition, constrained. A person who isn’t trying to be good isn’t constrained, therefore has a better advantage.
You might think of this as being really unfair. You might say that the world this world has been setup is wrong.
But would you want this any other way?
If being good was easy and was rewarded, then is anyone really a good person? People would be good just because it’s convenient not because they think it’s the right thing to do.
This results in it being very difficult to be a good person. You are giving your competitors a huge advantage, constraining yourself, but this is precisely why you are a good person.
Being a good person requires strength and more importantly a source of positive energy that cannot be touched by the unfortunate events that will befall you as you go through life.
